Between 14th – 19th August 2012, ISIS Arts’ (Newcastle, UK) inflatable mobile exhibition space, ‘The Big M’ will be at Göteborg Culture Festival in Sweden to showcase a brand new screening programme of filmmakers from the UK and the Nordic countries.
The contemporary video programme will be co-curated by ISIS Arts (Newcastle, UK) Göteborg Culture Festival (Sweden) and A Gallery (Göteborg, Sweden) on the theme of ‘Rights to a Future’.
The diverse, exciting and international new programme will be revealed at Göteborg’s Kulturkalas (Göteborg Culture Festival) in The Big M, a unique and eye-catching venue for the exhibition of film and media works with state of the art media facilities. The Big M is the only inflatable, mobile touring venue of its kind, it fits into a large transit van and can be assembled anywhere. The Big M has toured Europe and the UK since 2000, often attracting in excess of 2000 people per day. The Big M features a specially designed touch screen interface allowing viewers to interact with the screening programme and features three projectors showing work on three screens.
The Big M will be at Göteborg Culture Festival (Göteborg’s Kulturkalas) from 14th to 19th August 2012, it will then go onto visit other locations in a short Swedish tour.
The ‘Rights to a Future’ screening programme will be made up of 10 diverse short films (2-5 minutes in length) from artists and filmmakers based in the UK and the Nordic countries (including Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands and Åland). The programme will be made up of both emerging and established artists working in the realm of film, video, moving image, digital media and new media. The programme will seek to showcase art works using these media and provide a contemporary perspective of the Nordic region and the artists and filmmakers working within it.
Göteborg Culture Festival

With about 700,000 visitors, and traditions dating back to the early 1990s, the Göteborg Culture Festival is one of Sweden’s biggest city festivals. The street party is splashed across downtown Göteborg where visitors can meander along a trail of varied experiences. Ballet and carnival, street theatre and symphony orchestra, culinary culture and jazz, hip hop and dance bands, fairy tale and circus, design and poetry, world-class artists, local bands and much more.
