Funding

There are a range of institutions and agencies that provide funding for civil society organisations based in the Euro-Mediterranean region. In addition to grants given through Anna Lindh Foundation’s Call for Proposals, there are various funding opportunities in the field of intercultural work.

Artis offers competitive grant support to Israeli contemporary visual artists participating in exhibitions and/or events at recognized cultural institutions. We work collaboratively with institutions primarily in the United States to support exhibition-related costs including travel, shipping, production, special events and print materials. Artists, curators, and institutions may apply.

Arts Collaboratory is a programme for the support of visual artist-led initiatives in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and for exchange between these and visual arts organisations in the Netherlands. It provides financial support, facilitates knowledge sharing, and promotes networking and artistic exchange.

The Compagnia defines its objectives through multi-annual and annual programmes, and operates both by making grants to organisations who propose projects in line with its programmes, and in other ways, including the work of its “operating units”, which work directly in various sectors of the foundation’s activities.

Founded in 1997 the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology is a private, charitable organisation with an international scope. The Foundation aims to further human knowledge by supporting artistic, scientific and technological research. Revealing the interdependency between ourselves and our omnipresent technological environment is at the core of the Foundation’s questioning.

We want to change people’s lives for the better by setting up our own initiatives and cooperating in a living network. At the same time we offer to support your project working towards the same goals, particularly if it promotes sustainable development and strengthens local initiatives.

The fund is dedicated to nurturing and supporting outstanding programming of contemporary artists from France and the United States. It facilitates the discovery of emerging talent and firmly believes in the need to sustain interest in established artists whose work inspires younger generations. Furthermore, Etant donnés is instrumental in creating a network of curators from both countries who work together and exchange ideas.

The EU’s Culture programme (2007-2013) has a budget of €400 million for projects and initiatives to celebrate Europe’s cultural diversity and enhance our shared cultural heritage through the development of cross-border co-operation between cultural operators and institutions.

Private, grantmaking foundations – and, among them, foundations with a banking origin – are a fundamental resource to support the social, cultural, political, and economic development of a country. To fulfill their role, these foundations have to be free to deal with the needs unattended by the public administration, the market or other non-profit organizations or take a fresh approach to addressing the needs these entities have already tried to satisfy.

The core activity of the Fonds BKVB is to provide subsidies to individual visual artists, designers, architects and cultural mediators. In addition to subsidies for beginning artists and financial assistance for applicants at the basic level to help them continue their work, the Fonds BKVB also provides grants for projects, research, new work, continuing education abroad, travel, publications, etc.

The Foundation for Contemporary Arts was started in 1963 by visual artists in a spirit of community, hoping to assist and encourage innovation, experimentation and potential in the arts. Since 1963, the mission of the Foundation has been to encourage, sponsor, and promote innovative work in the arts created and presented by individuals, groups, and organizations.

FRAME gives financial support to create opportunities for Finnish artists to produce, exhibit and present their work abroad. Grant applications, from Finland and abroad, are reviewed three times a year. The deadlines are: April 1, August 15 and December 1.

The Getty Foundation fulfills the philanthropic mission of the J. Paul Getty Trust by supporting individuals and institutions committed to advancing the understanding and preservation of the visual arts locally and throughout the world.

Harpo Foundation was established in 2006 to support artists who are under recognized by the field. This applies to all artists whether emerging or further along in their careers. We view the definitions of art and artist to be open-ended and expansive.

The Seed aims to help Australian artists from any background, creating art and music across any genre, to establish themselves as self-sustained, professional artists.

Newitalianblood is the only website specialized in the conception, management and promotion of architecture, landscape, design and visual arts competitions and prizes. In the year 2000 nib realized the first example of online procedure fully anonymous; now has 10 years of experience and international recognition, in the development and organization of a wide range of competitions and prizes both for public Administrations and private companies.

OCA offers financial support enabling non-profit international institutions and international curators to place Norwegian artists, curators and critics within professional exhibitions and contexts. OCA accepts applications on four deadlines throughout the year: 15 February, 15 May, 15 September and 1 November. Applications are accepted from non-profit entities, and priority is given to exhibitions taking place in key international art institutions and project spaces.

The activities of the Prince Claus Fund can be divided into five categories: The Prince Claus Awards Exchange Events, Publications, Artistic Productions, Actions of Cultural Emergency Response. The Fund both honours initiatives of third parties and takes initiatives itself, in close cooperation with new and existing partners.

The Public Art Fund is New York’s leading presenter of artists’ projects, new commissions, and exhibitions in public spaces. For over 30 years the Public Art Fund has been committed to working with emerging and established artists to produce innovative exhibitions of contemporary art throughout New York City. By bringing artworks outside the traditional context of museums and galleries, the Public Art Fund provides a unique platform for an unparalleled public encounter with the art of our time

The Roberto Cimetta Fund is an international association promoting artistic exchange and the mobility of professionals in the field of contemporary performing arts and visual arts within the Mediterranean area. In the Mediterranean region, the frontier region between the Arab, European and Turkish worlds, mobility is an historic reality and an absolute necessity today.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (www.SNF.org), an international philanthropic organization, makes grants in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and medicine, and social welfare. While prominent in its support of Greek-related initiatives, the Foundation’s activities are worldwide in scope.

The Foundation’s grantmaking activity is focused on serving the needs of artists by funding the institutions that support them. Grants are made for scholarly exhibitions at museums; curatorial research; visual arts programming at artist-centered organizations; artist residencies and commissions; arts writing; and efforts to promote the health, welfare and firts amendment rights of artists.

The European Cultural Foundation initiates and supports cultural expression and interaction that empower people to realise a shared future in Europe. We enable voices that are too often unheard to be heard. We link inspirational people and ideas to cultural policy making both in local communities and on the European political stage.

The Foundation was established in 1977 “to advance the education of the public by the promotion of their appreciation of the fine arts and in particular the works of Henry Moore”. It concentrates its support on sculpture. These aims are achieved through specific projects initiated by the Foundation and by giving grant aid to other suitable organisations.

The Mondriaan Foundation was created to stimulate visual arts, design and the cultural heritage from the Netherlands. The foundation’s mission is to support cultural and nature preservation projects in The Netherlands, The Netherlands Antilles (Curaςao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba) and Aruba. The Cultuurfonds emphasizes artistic excellence and educational initiatives. The foundation is privately funded.
