The Vancouver Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Centre A) has a mission to provide a platform for contemporary Asian art that engages, educates, stimulates a reflective experience and provokes critical thought.
It sustains an open yet critical approach to the possible meanings of Asia in relation to a wide range of social concerns and contexts. Reflecting the culture of a city with a large Asian population, it presents the work of both local and international artists.
Centre A explores beyond exhibition art practice to include artists-in-residence, collective interventions, works in progress, studio production, public forums, screenings, publications and web projects. It is a space for gathering, discussion and exchange between artists and participants from diverse backgrounds.
