The Pastificio Cerere Foundation was born in 2004 by an idea of Flavio Misciattelli, President of the Foundation, with the intent to create a new reference point for the spreading and promotion of contemporary art. With the Art Director, Marcello Smarrelli, the Foundation is resolute to be even more structured in its scheduling by developing the relations with institutions and confirming itself as a fundamental cultural centre of the city. The didactics vocation has always been typical of the Roman Foundation: following the tradition, Marcello Smarrelli wants to activate educational projects that involve artists and curators. “Art has to be a tool for cultural development, an ethic-model’s harbinger and a launching ramp for thoughts”, tells the Art Director. The educational path has began with 6Artista, residence-programme for young artists living in Italy, realized by Pastificio Cerere and Civita, with the support of Allianz. 6Artista was created to support the professional growth of talents by creating an alternative and non-institutional way for developing relations between young artists and contemporary art-system. The project is composed by a six-months residence at Pastificio Cerere and a three-months residence at Cité International des Arts in Paris, thanks to Incontri Internazionali d’Arte of Rome. From 2011, the Foundation has activated the project Curator in residence, too. The curator proposes a one-year cultural path that is composed by different steps: the organization of exhibitions and site specific projects; the production of critical texts, monographs, catalogues; the organization of studio visits and conferences. He will also curate the exhibition of the two winners of the project 6Artista and its creative process.
